Credit Card Reviews : Chase FreedomSM Cash Visa® Card

The Chase FreedomSM Cash Visa® Card is the strongest of the cash back Visas, in my opinion.  It comes with a full 1% cash back on all purchases, plus 3% on several categories we all use regularly, including restaurants and gas stations.  It also has a 0% balance transfer option for twelve months for new card members.

One point is awarded for every dollar you spend using the card, with bonus points awarded for the categories mentioned above (among others).  Redemption is either by phone or online (I highly recommend online to avoid the dreaded phone tree), and is done in 2500 point increments (2500 pts = $25 check).  You must call or redeem your points online to obtain your cash back, it won’t be done for you.  This was something of a drawback for me until I learned how to do it online.

Chase’s biggest advantage is that Visa is accepted virtually everywhere.  As long as they stay in the ballpark on their rewards percentages, this card is likely to remain the one I use the most. August, 2007
